Whatcha Reading Wednesday - Feb 2

Once again, the books I'm currently reading are completely different from last week.

Shade of Grey by Jasper Fforde is my current audiobook. I am almost done this, only 2 more CDs to go. I think it's a little hard to describe what it's about. It's very much a fantasy story set really far in the future, when humans have changed to only see mainly one colour. The story follows Eddie Russett, who sees red.

These Things Hidden by Heather Gudenkauf is my current ebook. The story is about Allison, who was sent to prison for commiting a heinous crime, and her sister Brynne, who carrys the burden of the crime. Allison has been released on parole to a halfway house, and wants to make amends with Brynne, who wants nothing to do with her.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson is my current lunch-time book. I am definitely not the first to read this book, by a long shot. Mikael Blomkvist, a discredited journalist, is hired to investigate the disppearance of Harriet Vanger. She disappeared from an island forty years ago, and her uncle is convinced a family member killed her.

Whatcha Reading Wednesday - Jan 19

I am really flying through books lately. I have a whole new selection this week, except for the audiobook. Here is what I am in right now:

Nerve Damage by Peter Abrahams. This is the same audiobook as last week. I am really disliking the main character. But the story is still interesting. I am about 3/4 of the way through, and I'd like to know how it ends.

Waiting for Joe by Sandra Birdsell. I'm not sure where I first saw this title, but I have been waiting for it from the library for a while. It is written by a Canadian author, and so far the story is really good. Joe has lost everything, and now he and his wife Laurie on the run in a stolen motorhome, trying to get to Fort McMurray where Joe hopes to find work. Then Joe finds out that Laurie has spent their last few dollars on junk, and he justs leaves and starts walking.

Delirium by Lauren Oliver. I have seen this one making the rounds on book blogs, and thought I'd check it out. I requested a copy on Netgalley.com, and was quickly approved, so here I go. In this novel, love is considered a disease, and scientists have a cure that is administered when you turn 18. The book centers around Lena, who has less than 100 days to go before she is cured. Can she make it without "becoming diseased" by falling in love?

Whatcha Reading Wednesday - Jan 12

I've started two new books, and one audiobook this past week. And it figures that as soon as I started a book I already own, the library called to tell me I had lots to pick up. Good thing I have so much free time to read... (note sarcasm)

Ceremony in Death by JD Robb. This is number 5 in the series, and my first of the year. Loving it like usual. Reading it during my lunch hours.

Earth (the book): A Visitor's Guide to the Human Race by Jon Stewart. So far it is just like his show, funny and sarcastic.I'm reading this during my few minutes of relaxing time just before bed.

Nerve Damage by Peter Abrahams. This is my new audiobook in the car. It was a little slow to start, and I have some issues with the reader, but it's getting interesting now.

Whatcha Reading Wednesday - Jan 5

I have a few books on the go at the moment:

Room by Emma Donoghue. I just started this one yesterday at lunch. So far, I am finding it to be sad and depressing. The very idea of it (a mom and her son are being held prisoner in a single room. The boy, who turns 5 at the beginning of the story, has never been outside. He doesn't even really know there is an outside.) is appalling and depressing. There have been a few smile moments, but this is definitely a dark book so far.

PostSecret: Extraordinary Confessions from Ordinary Lives by Frank Warren. This is the only PostSecret book I haven't read yet. They are definitely awesome. I love reading the secrets, and seeing the little pieces of artwork that some people have made as their postcard.

My car audiobook is still Heat Wave by Richard Castle. But I left it in my car, which is still at the body shop. I should get it back by the end of the week though (woohoo - I think. I'm enjoying driving an automatic now.) I have to get this one finished because it is due back to the library next week, and I can't renew since someone placed a hold on it.

I'm not currently reading any books. I finished the 4th In Death book on my lunch hour. I do have the 5th book to start. I also have Android Application Development for Dummies to start.

And my current audiobook in the car is Heat Wave by Richard Castle. It's a cop thriller with a romantic sideline. Very interesting so far, although the reader is a little theatrical.

Whatcha Reading Wednesday - Dec 15

I have been flying through the "In Death" series by JD Robb. I am currently about halfway through the third book, Immortal in Death. I am thoroughly enjoying reading the steamy, crime thrillers.

I have always been a fan of court dramas and law thrillers, and this series definitely fits the law thriller category. Murder mystery with a touch of steamy romance. Nice light, and quick reading.

I intend to read through the whole series. I might need a break partway through, just so the stories don't blend together and become routine. But for right, it is just what the librarian ordered.

Whatcha Reading Wednesday - Dec 8

I decided that I needed a break from financial books, so I returned the one I started last week, and cancelled all the holds I had lined up.

I started reading 2030: Technology That Will Change the World. It is interesting, but I am finding it hard to follow right now, probably due to the cold that has my brain all foggy.

I think I need a dose of easy reading fiction. Lucky for me, when I was doing laundry last week, I noticed that someone put 4 boxes of books in the laundry room with a sign that they were free to take. I restrained myself and only took one box. It was completely filled with J D Robb "... in Death" books. I think that most of the series is there. I have read most of the books before, but never in order.

I plan to go through the box and sort them into order, and see what the haul really looks like. Then I can devour them. These aren't books that I am interested in keeping, so I'll see if my sister is interested in taking them when I am done. I am even try doing a giveaway here and pass the fun on to you.

Whatcha Reading Wednesday - Dec 1

I just started a new book today. I've only read about 4 pages so far, so there isn't much to share yet. Basically just the name and author: A Woman of Independent Means by Gail Vaz-Oxlade.

Thw whatcha reading posts were started by a link-up at Unexplained X2, and even though I haven't seen a post for this week, I thought I'd share anyways.

Whatcha Reading Wednesday

Inspired by a new weekly post at Unexplained X2, here is a peek at what I am reading. Obviously, there will be a review when I'm done.

I am reading Stuff by Randy Frost and Gail Steketee. It is all about hoarding. I love the show Hoarders and Buried Alive, so when I saw this on the new book list at the library, I jumped on the wait list.

The book is filled with stories about hoarders who have participated in the author's research and interviews. The stories are very detailed, and really delve into the reasons behind each person's hoarding. The search of a reason for hoarding is the central theme in the book.

I am about half way through the book now. And with my craft all finished, I'm sure I'll fly through the rest of it, since I do most of my reading on my lunch hour.
