Missed Mama Monday

Apparently I missed my Mama Monday post. So here it is on Tuesday:

Yesterday I bought myself a new purse and wallet. I was sick of having to empty out my too-small purse to find my wallet. I would end up with a huge pile of baby related stuff and garbage in my hands, and it was just getting annoying.

It's hard to see the colours properly, but the purse is a gorgeous grey with little pink and purple flowers. The wallet is black with purple and grey stripes, and matches the flower on the purse exactly. It is big enough to hold everything I want, including my current book.

My only concern is that I have neer had a purse without a rigid structure before, or one made of fabric. But I think I will get used to it. And it's just so pretty.

My husband called it my curtain bag. It reminds me a little of Mary Poppins carpet bag. But no matter, I am still excited about it.

Mama Monday - Mar 14

No questions this week, just write what you want.
What to write... Usually I am brimming with stuff, but it is Monday morning, and this is supposed to be a post about me, which can be tricky.

I did get some packing done on the weekend. Minimal though. Got the baby stuff packed for my sister-in-law to take. Packed up all my books. And that's about it. We get the keys today, so we'll start taking small stuff over during the week, and all the furniture on Saturday. I finally took home the boxes I got from work, so we have a good amount to start with. Yea moving!

Last week's task - Phone a friend.
I did call my mom and talk to her for a while. I didn't call my sister-in-law, but I did Facebook message here.

This week's task - Plan and have a date night.
That might be a bit tricky since we're moving this coming weekend, so we're pretty busy.
We did do something special on the weekend. We went shopping for clothes for us! We rarely do that. This is a treat that we planned for part of our income tax refund. It might not sound like much excitement, but it was for us. We each spend almost half our money, so we still have half each to spend. I can see a shopping trip or two happening this week.

Mama Monday - Mar 7

1. Do you have tattoos?
No. I'm the only one in my family without at least one. I have a phobia of needles (not as bad now that I had Mikey though), and I can't see myself voluntarily getting a tattoo.

2. What are 5 things about you we don't yet know.
This is tricky. I'm going to try to write this without keeping my archives to see if these are truly "new" items.
- I have been having dreams for the last 2 weeks that I am pregnant with twins. Or should I say nightmares?
- I have a mole on the bottom of my foot. Which is probably the oddest place to have one.
- I successfully parellel parked twice last week! I usually avoid it at all costs, and have only done it maybe 5 times since I first got my licence over 10 years ago.
- I have to have a heavy blanket to sleep. Even in the summer. I need the weight on my lower back. Otherwise I will never fall asleep.
- I hate vacuuming. I would rather clean toilets than vacuum.

3. What is your hubby's best quality when it comes to the kiddies?
Mike is really good with Mikey. They love playing and wrestling. Mike has wanted to be a stay-at-home dad since Mikey was born. We are currently exploring that option, with him possibly working a part-time job.
Last week's task - Do your nails.
Nope, wasn't done. But I did get to the week before's task and have a relaxing bath. It started as one for Mikey, but he decided he wanted out within 5 min, and I decided to enjoy it instead.

This week's task - Phone a friend.
I don't call many people on the phone. I'm really not a phone person. But I should call my mom, and maybe my sister-in-law and catch up with them.

Mama Monday - Feb 28

1. What piece of motherly advice did your own mum give you, that you put to use now on a daily basis?

To remember that as long as Mikey gets vitamins and some protein, not to worry too much about whether he eats. He will eat eventually. He still won't chew anything, but he is much better at putting food in his mouth and sucking on it. But I make sure he gets a milkshake most mornings with banana, crushed up vitamin, yogurt, protein poweder and milk. So he is getting more vitamins and nutriences than some kids who do eat.

2. When you get time to yourself, what are YOUR hobbies and interests?

Reading and blogging. And combining the two. I have this blog for personal things, and my book blog for my book reviews. I am thoroughly enjoying both.

3. What is your fail safe family meal?

Tacos. We do more of a deconstructed taco though. My husband mixes his taco hamburger with cheese and sour cream and puts it in a wrap. I mix my taco hamburger with tomatos, cheese and salsa, and eat it with nacho chips. Yum! I think we will need to make it this week now.

Last week's task - wear makeup every day.
Check. For weekdays anyway. I always wear a bit to work. But I wore none all weekend.

This week's task - Do your nails.
This might be hard. I don't even own nail polish. Maybe I should check out what the nail salon in mall beside my work charges. This is pay week, so I have $20 "allowance" to spend on anything I want.

Mama Monday Feb 21

1. How did you come to have a 'mommy blog'?
I don't really have a \mommy' blog, I have a 'me' blog. But I just decided out of the blue one day to start, and I've been doing a pretty steady job at posting.
2. What do you do?  Do you WAH or homeschool etc?
I work full-time. I respect SAH and WAH moms, but it is definitely not for me. I love working.

3. Have you read any parenting books or do you 'go it alone'?
I read the "usual" suspects, like What to Expect. I have read a few others, mainly in my efforts to get Mikey to sleep and eat. Both of which are still slowly becoming better.

Last week's task - have a luxury bath.
I didn't get to this. Mikey had a few rough nights with very little sleeping, and I mostly just collapsed into bed. I thought about it over the weekend, but instead chose ice cream and a good book. I'm not really a bath person.

This week's task - wear makeup every day.
Not a problem. I wear makeup to work, because otherwise everyone asks if I'm sick because I'm too pale without my bronzer. Not that I wear much, just bronzer, eye shadow and mascara.

Mama Monday - Feb 14

1. Introduce yourself!
My name is Sarah, and I'm 28 (about to be 29 in April), and I'm mom to Mikey, who will be 2 in May. My "husband" Mike and I have been common-law spouses for almost 3 years. We live in southern Ontario, Canada.

2. How did you meet your other half?
Mike and I met online. When we first met, that was still something you didn't really announce, so we used to just gloss over the answer. Now it's not such a big deal.

3. How long were you together before you had the baby talk?
Totally not long enough. Lets just say that they date the doctor used to start counting my pregnancy from was our first date. But I know my actual conceive date, and it was a full 2 weeks later. I guess you could say we jumped into things. We are also having baby talks now about a second child.

This week's task: Have a PROPER, UNINTERRUPTED luxury bath!
That would be divine. I will definitely do this one evening after Mikey is in bed. I rarely ever take baths, usually just grab showers.
